“We tailor our services to your specific requirements as every job is unique.”
Dan is originally from Goodiwindi, and was raised on a sheep and cattle property. He has the land in his heart and this is where his love of surveying originates from. Dan has a real appreciation for the land, fauna, ecosystems, stars, skies, rocks and all in between.
With a long established career under the SMK banner which started in the late 1980’s, Dan started as a field assistant in Goondiwindi, drafting via a traditional board, large A0-A1 sheet and printer – then branched into Autocad. Dan completed a 5 year stint in Brisbane working on estates often in Northern Brisbane and remembers them, pointing them out to his family as they travel past.
After returning to Goondiwindi, Dan established his career in cadastral surveying, some irrigation work, predominantly cadastral.
Mid 2000’s saw Dan and his family relocate to Toowoomba. SMKLS had an office in Gatton and now in Toowomba as well.
Dan’s love of outdoors sees his weekend activities in the form of camping with family and mountain biking. He has a keen interest in sports and follows many forms. He still likes a hit of squash playing in Gatton each week. He was president of the Gatton Squash Club for 8 years from 2012 to 2019.
He enjoys problem solving and working solutions to see clients obtain the best use of their land the way the want with a high level of moral, ethical, legal adherence to the project.
Dan is known for his approach at ‘getting his hands dirty’ in the process of providing the best possible service to his clients. His rural knowledge means he understands the needs even when inexperienced owners or prospective commercial enterprises with rural property may not. He is able to help property owners negotiate the logistics, the laws and the practicalities of land purchase. He is a recognised problem solver.
The business has always offered a very personalised service to its clients. Dan’s ability and attention to detail give that sense of confidence and security to clients, knowing that Dan’s experience is comprehensive across all aspects of the process. He believes each client deserves his total commitment to each assignment, and judging by the feedback, the satisfaction with this client-focused approach is top shelf service.
When the circumstances need other professionals to provide advice or practical assistance, Dan’s ‘can do’ approach comes in to play by applying a multi-faceted strategy with engineers, architects, town planners or building designers to ensure absolute best practice and problem-solving occur. The best result for the needs of the client is always foremost in Dan’s mind.
That love of the land is in Dan’s blood and his love of surveying is now being passed on to staff joining the SMK Land Surveyors team.
